How I found the job is also an interesting story.....one that I think should get a little media play (to satisfy my ego and help with my low self esteem) so below I have attached a slick press release I wrote to announce my new hire.
Take a look and if you are a media type please feel free to write about this cool story.
Marketing Genius “lands” with the help of CaseCamp
Toronto, Canada,March 2007 – Toronto based Toy Company, Happy Worker (www.happyworker.com), is blushing with pride to announce the addition of Saul Colt, self-proclaimed marketing genius. Colt will head up the company’s new creative idea department called The Toy Agency (www.thetoyagency.com) with a focus on producing custom toys for corporate customers.
Happy Worker learned of Saul’s availability from his personal listing on
a new job board run by CaseCamp (jobs.casecamp.org) and after seeing him speak
at a CaseCamp event in January. “Saul’s presentation at CaseCamp was
inspiring. We’ll be tapping his creative passion to power our new big idea
department,” says Kris Schantz, Co-President of Happy Worker Inc. “Saul marketed himself in a fresh, new way and that’s exactly what we’re doing with The Toy
Agency.”Before joining Happy Worker, Colt was the first international employee to be
hired by Zipcar Inc, now the world’s largest car sharing company, to launch the
company’s first foray into the Canadian market. He was instrumental in
getting the Toronto operation off the ground and drove it to become Zipcar’s
fastest growing market in company history, outpacing Boston, NYC and San
Francisco. Colt is an accomplished marketing professional with more than a
decade of diverse, high-level experience. He is also a respected publisher, having led his company SSS Comics to infamy, super-hero style. “Learning about the CaseCamp job board was like playing spin the bottle and having the bottle stop on a super pretty girl,” muses Colt. “As someone who has made a career out of developing non-traditional marketing initiatives, it was pretty easy for me to see the value of posting my availability on a new job board that targets the creative community.”The job board is a new service from the folks at CaseCamp.org. “Hearing that
Saul has landed a great new gig is a huge thrill for us,” says Eli Singer,
creator of CaseCamp and Managing Director of Social Media at Cundari SFP.
“He was among the first to try out the board as a way to look for and find a
job. His success shows the site is on the right track.” Saul is in
good company – the Toronto International Film Festival, FUSE Magazine, Henderson Bas, Cundari SFP and Tucows have all posted to the board.
